LEGALLY BLONDE: THE GAME
"Brains, beauty, and a legal career! Meet Elle Woods and some surprise guest stars as you enter the world of Legally Blonde! Just remember to bend - and snap!"

Legally Blonde: The Game is a combination match-3 and visual novel game published by Playside Studios. I was hired to clean up the game's narrative, with a particular focus on tighter pacing, higher stakes, and punchier dialogue. Most notably, I wrote the entirety of the revised story that rolled out in the 2.0 update (nine chapters, approximately 8,000 words each). I also wrote a few of the seasonal event storylines, and am currently working on content for future updates.

Legally Blonde: The Game is a sequel to the 2001 film of the same name. You play as a recent law school graduate whose sense of style is almost as sharp as their savvy in the courtroom. Solve fun but challenging cases with the help of your friends, colleagues, and new mentor Elle Woods. Do you have what it takes to become Boston's top up-and-coming lawyer?

Legally Blonde: The Game is the first game I've worked on that was based on a licensed, third-party IP, and one of the biggest challenges (but also one of the most fun aspects) of that has been staying faithful to the world and tone of Legally Blonde while also updating it to feel fresh and relevant in 2023. Much of this meant fewer references to Cosmo and more talk of selfies, but it also meant crafting a story with a more nuanced and inclusive view of gender and feminisim at its heart. Legally Blonde is also my first project that isn't a simple visual novel (though it does have visual novel elements), requiring faster paced and often less complex writing, while still keeping the memorable characters and engaging drama of my previous work.

Legally Blonde: The Game can be played for free and is available for iOS and Android.
